Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Program for all ages

Come join an educator from the Mariposa Museum and part of its collection to learn about “Día de los Muertos” (Day of the Dead) and how it celebrates death as a part of life instead of being a cause for sadness! This important national holiday in Mexico is also celebrated by many in the US with dances, music, food and family time, including some Native American and Mexican American communities. You will come to understand where these colorful traditions come from and how people prepare themselves and their special altars with love and humor before November 1st, when it is believed that the souls of the dead return to be fed every year. Attendees will take part in a craft and learn how to make their own “Day of the Dead” altar at home.
